SACRAMENTO – Today Assemblyman Josh Hoover (R-Folsom) proudly announced that Galaxy Game Café is the Small Business of the Month for September 2025 in the 7th Assembly District.
Owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Melisa and Robert Roden, Galaxy Game Café has quickly become a vibrant community hub in Citrus Heights, providing a space for connection, creativity, and fun.
Melisa and Robert’s journey began at home, where, while raising their six children, they frequently played board games and Pokémon TCG together. They witnessed firsthand how these games fostered academic, social, and developmental skills, all while creating meaningful family connections. Inspired by this experience, they dreamed of offering that same sense of community and engagement on a larger scale—leading to the creation of Galaxy Game Café, whose motto is “Unplug. Connect with others.”
Established on April 13, 2024, Galaxy Game Café has grown into a beloved destination for the greater Sacramento region. The café offers a spacious open play area with seating for over one hundred guests, a library of more than twelve hundred board and card games, family-friendly spaces, retail games and merchandise, a snack shop, and a wide variety of events. Guests can participate in Dungeons and Dragons sessions, role-playing games, trivia nights, social game nights, Pokémon tournaments, craft workshops, youth camps, corporate team-building activities, and more. In just 17 months, it has become a “home away from home” for many in our community.

Josh Hoover represents Assembly District 7, which includes the cities of Citrus Heights, Folsom, and Rancho Cordova and the unincorporated communities of Carmichael, Fair Oaks, Foothill Farms, Gold River, Mather, McClellan Park, North Highlands, Orangevale, and Rosemont.
