SACRAMENTO – Today Assemblyman Josh Hoover (R-Folsom) released the following statement regarding the current teachers’ strike and ongoing negotiations in the Twin Rivers Unified School District:

“I am deeply concerned about the ongoing teachers’ strike and the real hardship it continues to have on our children, parents, and community.

“I have the utmost respect for the dedication and hard work of our educators, and I recognize that both the district leadership and the teachers’ union bring legitimate concerns and priorities to the table. Those issues deserve to be heard and addressed. However, the time for progress is now.

“I strongly urge the Twin Rivers Unified School District and the teachers’ union to remain at the negotiating table—working around the clock if necessary—until a fair and sustainable agreement is reached. Our students cannot afford further delays. Every additional day of this strike means lost instructional time, interrupted learning, and added stress on children who have already faced more than their share of challenges in recent years. Working families are also bearing a heavy burden with disrupted childcare, meal programs, and daily routines.

“A timely resolution is not optional—it is essential. It is squarely in the best interest of every student and every family in our district. I call on both parties to negotiate in good faith, put politics aside, and focus relentlessly on what matters most: honoring our teachers while ensuring a fiscally responsible budget and excellence in our classrooms.

“Our children belong in school, learning and thriving with their educators. I stand ready to support any good-faith efforts that bring this matter to a swift and responsible conclusion. Let’s get this done—for our kids and for our community.”

Josh Hoover represents Assembly District 7, which includes the cities of Citrus Heights, Folsom, and Rancho Cordova and the unincorporated communities of Carmichael, Fair Oaks, FoothillFarms, Gold River, Mather, McClellan Park, North Highlands, Orangevale, and Rosemont.
