FOLSOM – Today Assemblyman Josh Hoover (R-Folsom) announced that he and Senator Roger Niello (R-Fair Oaks) have requested funding to support the Citrus Heights Veterans Memorial Project to build a West Coast replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. This memorial will honor the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed forces during the Vietnam War.

“A Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Citrus Heights would honor and remember the bravery of the Americans who served, including the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice,” Assemblyman Hoover said. “This memorial would be a place of reflection and healing for veterans, their families, and visitors from across California.”

This Wall would be located in the current Veterans section of the Calvary Cemetery. It would be fully visible to all those travelling along Interstate 80 and will be open to the public 365 days a year. In addition, this memorial would be the only Vietnam Veterans Memorial west of Missouri and only the second to have the official support and partnership of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.

“The majestic Vietnam Veterans Memorial inspires people to pause and connect with Vietnam veterans in a special way,” stated Senator Niello. “The West Coast replica in California will serve as a place of healing, reflection, and education for generations to come.”
